In this class we are going to cover making sew-in fabric labels for your textile and fabric goods. There are federal regulations that require garments, home goods and many other things made from fabrics to have labels with specific information on them. It can be difficult to find pre-made labels that have the right information on them and it can be expensive to source them, especially if you only need a small amount. This class is going to show you how to make your own labels simply and inexpensively. I’ll give you lots of resources to help you find the info you need and show options for printing at home or using a digital fabric printing service like Spoonflower to professionally print them.
Participants must have computer experience.
The session fee is $20 for HGA student, individual, family, and professional artist members; and $30 for all others. For the 90 days following the live session, registered, attendees will have access to the recorded session “on demand”. Registration for Spinning & Weaving Week (https://weavespindye.org/spinning-and-weaving-week-2022/) is required prior to registration for Art Sparks sessions.
Spinning and Weaving Week is a 7-day celebration of the fiber arts. October 3-9, 2022, the Handweavers Guild of America, Inc. (HGA) will offer virtual programs that will educate, inspire, and support the fiber art community. The nominal registration fee includes access to all 7-days of programming including Marketplace LIVE, Thread Talks, Studio Tours, Panel Discussions, Fashion Show, Virtual Exhibit Hall, and Networking Opportunities. For an additional fee, registered attendees may participate in an Art Sparks session. These sessions are sample classes or mini workshops covering a hyper-specific topic and are often used to introduce attendees to a new art form, technique, or equipment.
