A guided studio class to build on your dye skills. Come with a plan to dye a set of skeins for your own project. Based on skills you learned in the pre-requisite classes, you will mix your own dye colors and try creating some custom colors. Becka will guide you through the process and provide equipment, samples, advice, and help to get the results you want.

Equipment note:

  • You should bring two to four skeins of yarn to class with you to dye.
  • Your yarn must be wool, silk, alpaca, nylon or any combination of these fibers. If your skein has a small amount (less than 10%) of a fiber other than those
  • Your yarn needs to be in a skein shape before you come to class. A skein is a continuous loop of yarn, which is secured in 4-5 places with scraps of yarn loosely tied around it to keep it from tangling.
  • You should have a plan for your yarn. Bring swatches of colors you would like to use in your skein (paint chips, scraps of paper or fabric, an inspiration photo)

Level and Prerequisites:
Beginning to Advanced Beginning – students should have completed Handpainted Skein: The Basics or Partners in Dye: Fiber and Dye Sampler.
