Sashiko Inspired Squares @ WBCA

White Bear Center for the Arts 4971 Long Ave, White Bear Lake, MN, United States

Sashiko is a form of traditional Japanese embroidery or stitching that originated in rural Japan. The word sashiko means “little stabs” reflecting the stitching technique that uses small running stitches to create geometric patterns on fabric. Traditional sashiko is often stitched with white thread on indigo fabrics, but students will create three animal sashiko-inspired squares to explore modern variations of the traditional stitches using multiple colors. Your completed squares can be finished into coasters, quilt blocks, decorative pockets, or framed as a piece of embroidered art. 3 Tuesdays, Feb 11-25 6:00-8:00 PM ID: F5B7 $81 Member/$102 Non-Member $14 material fee payable to instructor Adults, teens 16+, all levels Please note that online class registration closes 24 hours before the start of a class session.
