Tapestry Loom Workshop @ NSCA

Join instructor, fabric designer, and textile artist Becka Rahn on March 18th and create your very own mini woven tapestry! As part of our opening weekend for the exhibition "Weaving the North," Becka will be leading two workshops: Session 1: Ages 9+, 11am-12pm Session 2: Adults, 1pm-3pm Create a small woven masterpiece using a palm-sized wooden loom. Learn how to combine colors and textures as you weave with yarns and wool roving. The adult class will also incorporate beads and other embellishments to create a landscape or abstract design. We'll talk about different styles of weaving and how to add fringe, etc.

Stitched Felt Cats & Dogs at NSCA

Make a portrait of your pet from wool felt. Choose from a cat or a dog, learn some simple embroidery stitches and pick the colors to customize your best friend. You can finish your piece into an ornament, keytag, magnet or pin. This class is held IN PERSON at North Suburban Center for the Arts.

Pop Goes the Easel Opening Reception at NSCA

I have a piece in this exhibition which will be on view at North Suburban Center for the Arts January 25 - March 17, 2024. Thursday, January 25, 2024 6:00 PM  8:00 PM Join us for the opening reception of POP! Goes the Easel, an exhibition curated by Desirée Forgét. This exhibition features 20+ local artists whose artworks explore Pop Art's quintessential characteristics for a 21st century audience. With themes of satire, irony, and a healthy dose of humor, this exhibition packs a witty punch. Light refreshments will be provided and awards will be announced at the reception. All are welcome to attend. Additionally parking is available across the street (77th Way) in the American Masonry Restoration parking lot. More about the guest curator: Desirée Forgét is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist based in Minnesota. In her work, Forgét often pulls from her wide skillset to explore whimsical and irreverent themes, with vibrant colors and playful subjects, often reflecting on current issues that hint at the serious while maintaining a carnivalesque sense of the absurd.
