Interruptilian
2023
Interruptilian is part of a series about plans going sideways — projects that get delayed, interrupted, or tangled up by things outside our control. The title is a portmanteau, combining words to create a new meaning, which reflects my love of puns and wordplay.
In this piece, a creature is disrupting an orderly stitching pattern and creating chaos. The box shape suggests the difference between the internal or private version of a story and the version we share with others. Red is often associated with stopping, so I used red and softer related colors to explore obstacles and interruptions — not complete endings, but things that slow progress or get in the way.
